When you miss your best friend…

I’m a bit behind on blogging about trips I’ve taken lately… In order to catch up I gotta take y’all back to September of last year.

You see I was missing Lydia big time. So I started looking at plane tickets to Washington. Found some good flights for October and was texting Lydia about it. It didn’t end up working out for October. But when October hit I knew I needed to get up there.. So I booked some tickets for November. Yes that meant I would go to Washington and then shortly after head to Cali for thanksgiving but I didn’t care. I needed to go!

We didn’t do much while I was there… It was cold, so I spent most of my time under a heated blanket turned on high with Daphne in my lap. But it was nice. So here are some pictures from the trip.

It’s Been Written…

Happy Friday Y’all! I don’t know about you but I am so excited about it being Friday… Because that means I get to sleep in tomorrow! And that makes this sleep deprived girl very excited!

I’m linking up with Ashley from The Sweet Season for Friday’s Letters today! I just love this link-up!

Dearest Bed- I am so excited to sleep in you tonight. In the last two weeks we have only met 3 times. And while I am so thankful I had other beds to sleep in those other nights, I have missed you… Also I’m just excited to sleep in general!

Dear Caffeine- After today you and I are parting ways for a bit… I have had way too much of you this week! Time to detox!

Dear 4 and 5 year old’s at VBS last night- You were out of control! There was no taming you or getting you to sit still. You were way too excited for the slip’n’slide. And add-on eating ice cream after said slip’n’slide and it was all we could do to keep you from bouncing off the walls! With that said I still had a blast being one of your teachers all week! You were wonderful! And I’m so proud of all you learned!

Dear P-town- Get ready because I’m coming for you in 2 weeks! It is going to be a jam-packed short trip!

Dear Best friend- “Oh it’s what you do to me! It’s what you do to me!… We love each other… Not in the prison kind of way though.”

Get Ready…

Dear Texas,

First off let me just declare my love for you. You probably already know this. But I just felt the need to let you know again. I love you plain and simple!

I am so glad that summer finally decided to show up! We had a very nice spring, but I was so ready for the summer heat to come! Last year it started in March and never looked back. This year it came and went until Memorial day and then it was here to stay. Praise the Lord!

I think you gave us a nice and cool spring because you knew this summer is going to be a doozy. I say this because going by the last few days we are going to have a HUMID summer. Now I am not complaining about this. I think it’s mighty time I felt the crazy humidity everyone talks about down here. Also it means we have gotten rain… And we need rain bad! So bring on the rain, humidity, and the heat! But if you could let the rain be on the week days, so we can have sunshine on the weekends pretty please!

Now that we’ve discussed my love and the weather let’s get down to business shall we???… roadtripYes it is true… She is coming here! Soon! And I just thought you should know so you could prepare… Because if the below pictures are anything to go by you need to prepare yourself big time! Not only to handle us and our shenanigans… But remember we are trying to get her to move here. So bust out all the stops, great weather, fun times, amazing people, country music. Go big or go home right? Right!tillamook

California Recap!

So I’ve realized I’m bad at vacation recaps here on the blog… That’s why I haven’t blogged and I’ve been back since late Monday night… Mostly I try to write them, and then I get bored writing them… So I think if I’m bored writing this, aren’t people going to be bored reading it? And my answer to that is always yes! So then I don’t want to write them… Maybe I should learn to summarize more… But I like to explain things… So then my summaries turn into full on stories… Anywho… With all that being said… Here is my attempt at a Summarized California Recap!pupsWednesday evening- Best friend time! We went out to eat dinner and have a drink. I got a hypnotini (hypnotic, pineapple juice, pineapple rum, and vodka) she got a rum and coke, they were both good! And we got delicious food! All the while talking about life and catching up and enjoying being face to face!normandmeThursday- My mom and I went shopping! Ate In’n’Out.  And had a good day together. We hung around the house that afternoon. Had dinner with my dad that night, and I watched some tv with them that evening.

Friday- Was going to have lunch with Normy, but of course everything that could go wrong at work for her that day did, so she wasn’t able to get away. So I grabbed a subway sandwich and headed off to Morro Bay sooner than I had planned. It was a wonderful drive over to the beach! I met up with my parents and my brother and his fiancé and all the people already up there for the wedding the next day. My mom and the girls were dipping cake pops in the frosting. That night my parents, Brendan, and I  went to dinner with my aunt, uncle, grandma, and grandpa. It was a good time, and lots of laughter was had. When we got back to the campground I went and watched the sunset! And man was it pretty! Then after that I sat around the camp fire with some of our camping family and my uncle serenaded us with His guitar (I haven’t heard him play in forever, so I thoroughly enjoyed it!)

Saturday- Filled with everything wedding! Got up showered, went to the house to get my hair done. Got dressed. Went to the beach for the ceremony. Then we rode the trolley over to the brewery for the reception. The reception was a really good time! I varied my time between family, camping family, and friends. Got to hang out with precious little Sawyer, and dance with him. And just all around had a good time on a beautiful day outside celebrating Scotty and Heather!hair for the weddingsiblingsSunday- Got up way early to head back to town for Church. Had another wonderful drive back, so beautiful! Enjoyed worshipping the Lord with the Westside family. The sermon was out of Daniel, and enjoyed learning some history in there as well! After church I hung around and talked with people there. After that I went to Dani’s birthday party! Hanging with the Reyna/Wammack clan was a good time! Then that evening I went to Sal’s for dinner with my parents! Ate some delicious chips and salsa, and chili verde! Mmm so good!SalsMonday- Got up, got ready, and then my mom and I headed over to Sierra Running Company so I could take a look at their selection of running shoes. Found a pair I liked so I got them. Then we headed over to have lunch with my dad. We went to Mimi’s Café! I sure do love that place as well! They have amazing food! After saying goodbye to my dad my mom took me to the airport. And after saying goodbye to her I walked in checked my bag and went through security to wait for my first flight. Got delayed in Denver for 2 hours, but finally made it home and crashed!shoes and denver

The day before vacation!

1 day!!!! (technically 1 and 1/2, since I don’t leave till the afternoon, but lets not get technical here..) 1 Day!!!!!!!!! Yup that’s right I leave in 1 day! So excited!!!!

I have yet to pack… But let’s be honest, who packs before the night before… No one! I did however make my packing list last night… So that’s a step! But before I go to bed tonight I will have 1. worked out 2. packed! Hopefully that still puts me to bed at a decent hour!

Then tomorrow I’ll work in the morning and then leave at lunch time for the airport! Then I’ll fly fly fly!

To finish up the Cali Countdown… #1 This girl 42Yes that’s right. Tomorrow night the bestie and I will be re-united! It’s going to be amazing!

I Guess I’m Blessed!!

blogbutton2.2Good Morning! And welcome to “I Guess I’m Blessed” Wednesday! A time to reflect on all the blessings in our lives as well as all the things we are thankful for! So with out further ado…

On Monday night I had a facetime date with my best friend Normy! It pretty much made my whole day! We talked, we laughed. And I just had a wonderful time! It was a much needed time! I am definitely thankful that the Lord blessed me with her friendship! She is the best!

As you all probably know, I play drums for our praise band at church. I am thankful for this opportunity to serve and help lead people in worship of our amazing Savior! But I am also thankful that I have started to enjoy it. There are definitely still times that I get nervous and freak out. But those times are getting less and less (usually it’s only when Matt asks me to do something I don’t know how to do very well, or at all). With my nervousness going away I’m reminded of how much I actually like playing the drums. And with that my attitude changed as well, as in I get to enjoy serving the Lord in that way, and enjoy seeing people led to worship our Lord!

This week’s non-explanation thankful’s- haircuts (totally happening today), the zoo, ice, chocolate, soup, naps, queso, and love!

Yup Yup, I guess I’m Blessed!

Our Traditions

So I’ve been back from Cali almost a full week now… And how much of my trip have I told y’all about?? Just the pups… Terrible I know… I’m sorry for that… My only excuse is sometimes playing catch-up takes up all your time for blogging. And sometimes decorating the apartment for Christmas takes priority over blogging… So here I am almost a week later with California post #2…

normyme1For those of you who don’t know… This is my best friend Normy! And this trip we got to spend a good amount of time together! Which I am incredibly thankful for! Because I miss her a whole heck of a lot! And I’m constantly trying to get her to move over here to the awesome state of Texas! Hasn’t worked yet… But maybe one day it will!

Anywho we have this tradition, dating back for quite some time, where we spend my first night in town together. So this trip wasn’t any different. She picked me up from the airport, we grabbed a late dinner snack (since I was on the plane during my dinner time and going through different time zones). And after that we decided to go out. We then discussed different places and the likelihood of running into people we would rather not see.

We finally decided on a place and headed out. So we get there and we go up to the bar to sit on these two open stools and order a drink. And right as we get to the stools the guy sitting next to one of the open stools pulls the stool toward him. Norm and I kinda look at each other like what the heck. And the guy says something I don’t remember what. Who knows what that was all about. So then we start discussing with each other what we are going to get to drink. I don’t frequent bars all that often. Like maybe once every few months if that. So I have no idea what to order. So I tell the bartender I would like something blue and fruity (generally speaking I like blue drinks, and you can’t usually go wrong with fruity ones), and Normy is rolling her eyes at me.

So we get our drinks and then decide to take the table that’s right on the other side of us. And the same guy who stole the stool from us is saying something to us about the table as well… And we are like is this saved too or can we sit here. And he goes well it’s ok for now, but later you will probably have to move… Norm and I look at each other with the what the heck look again. And then he tells us that some band or dj is coming in and setting up right on the other side of that table so they may need the space. Why he didn’t just say that from the beginning, who knows, but finally we were all squared away and cool with the guy lol.

The rest of the night was pretty low key. Hung out, got some jack in the box tacos, and had girl talk in bed like old times.

The next time we hung out was the day after thanksgiving. At which point we were carrying on another one of our traditions… Road-tripping together! We’ve gone on lots of road-trips together. All of which are adventures! This time the destination was the beach!! Which it turned out to be a beautiful day at the beach. It was in the 70’s and sunny… So stinking nice!

What did we do there you ask? Well let me show you…

clam chowderWe ate this deliciousness! Slash Cafe’s clam chowder bread bowl!! I had been looking forward to this for soooooo long! And what’s funny is I didn’t actually have to go to the beach to get it. They serve it at a restaurant in the city next to my hometown, and they sell it at costco there too… So lots of people questioned why Normy and I would go to the beach to get it… To which we said a.)we love going on road-trip adventures together, and b.) it’s the beach, who doesn’t want to go to the beach!

pismoAfter we ate we walked around to all the little shops around the town, and each bought a couple of things… Then we went and sat down on a bench at the beginning of the pier… We took lots of random pictures (which can be seen on my facebook). Played a couple of mad-libs and just enjoyed the day with each other.

normyme2No trip to the beach is complete without getting ice cream at The Scoop… It just isn’t done. So after we were done on the pier we headed on over to The Scoop to get ice cream. I got mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone, and Normy got a strawberry milkshake! Yum it was good. We took our ice cream to go and went out to see the Monarch Butterflies.

I didn’t take any pictures of the butterflies. Because they are all in huge bunches up on the tree leaves and they just look like part of the tree. But you can see there were a whole lot of them there. And as always it was cool to see them all up in the trees. And to see all the leaves with chunks out of them on the trees the butterflies had already been on. Then we headed on home!

She came for dinner at my parents house on my last night in town, which has become a tradition now too I think. She got me to try my mom’s weird salad, which I ended up liking. And we both devoured our pieces of snicker-doodle cake that my mom had made, it was sooo good!

All in all we got some very good time together. Not to say I don’t already miss her and still think she should move on over here to Texas! But it was nice to get a lot of good time together! And next year we will get to see more of each other! Because I’ll be back in Cali in April, and sometime next year she is going to come visit me here in Texas… So get ready Texas because we are going to take you for a wild ride!
